"I would say that Australia definitely is different [from] the US. In many ways it was like stepping back in time... But my point is that [racism] does exist and it's got to change because the world is full of a lot of people and most economies have to take advantage - including Australia - of a diverse set of people." - Sol Trujillo - ex CEO Telstra

Wed, June 17, 2009 - 1:11 AMPresident Obama notwithstanding, racism still exists in the U.S. But it's not as open as it once was. If you Aussies can solve whatever problems you have with racism, please tell us how you did it! -

Wed, June 17, 2009 - 4:19 PMThere's always going to be prejudices... What pisses me off is the self-righteous denial of the pollies, sweeping it under the carpet makes it ok! -

Re: Racist? Never! We're Aussies!
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 5:46 AMLOL @ The Indian Students.
India almost invented racism.
The small amount of violence in Australia against Indian students pales in comparison to the daily violence in their own country.
Our media likes to stoke the fires, and people love to get stirred up by the media.
We have 20 million people, they have 1 billion people. There would be more racial violence to Indians in one hour in India, than there would be in year in Australia.
None of it should occur, but lets get things in perspective.... and not feel so important that we somehow shoulder the burden for all racism against Indians. -
