Re: Music from your cute little country....
Tue, January 13, 2009 - 8:00 PMGah~!
...those songs rocked!
I had to check and see if that was indeed the real video for that Men at Work song it was so hilarious.
and Sherbet ~ Howzat is totally new to me, along with 3/4ths of the videos in the 'related videos' section on the right hand side of that page.
I've collected music for 20+ years and this is a gold mine of unheard stuff.
(those of you who collect will understand how rare that is!)
Wow. Wonderful, THANKS.

Re: Music from your cute little country....
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 12:11 AMOMFG!!!! Paul's hair! How *old* is this clip?
Yeah... I like this version better than the original. I know DAAS were better renowned for the comedy side of their musical comedy, and I consider them comic geniuses - but their music is worth listening to on its own merits. Heard www.youtube.com/watch ?
As for Australian music in general - *gah* - where does one start? What I'm listening to most days? Why not?
imo, the outstanding performers in contemporary Australian hip-hop are The Hilltop Hoods and The Herd. So much excellence it's hard select a representative track, but here're my near-random picks
www.youtube.com/watch
www.youtube.com/watch
and, of course an older oz folk classic remade www.youtube.com/watch
Then, I've been listening to a lot of drum'n'didg lately... Ganga Giri and Wild Marmalade:
www.youtube.com/watch
www.youtube.com/watch
I'm a big Nick Cave fan. Again a kinda random pick (but I excluded the few I've posted or seen posted very recently):

And I'll leave with one that gives away my age ;-)

Sat, August 15, 2009 - 1:30 AMInteresting...also, not sure how I missed those golden oldies you posted above.
LRB is a treasure trove of good lounge-y rock songs
Reminising Original (I heard somewhere that John Lennon thought very highly of this song)

Cover? Eh, not bad...not bad...

...and I really enjoyed that Dragon tune (and the others) as well.

As Good As It Gets in Oz
Sun, February 22, 2009 - 6:56 PMYou can't help tell I'm a child of the 80s/90s with this list!
Cold Chisel (& Jimmy when he went solo)
Powder Finger (& Bernard's solo stuff)
INXS (ONLY when headed by Michael)
Little Birdy
Killing Heidi
Nick Cave
Men At Work
Paul Kelly - even although I'm not overly fond of his work, I think he's a real genius and an under acknowledged artist. -

It's not night
I'm happy
I'm not happy
I'm sad
I'm not sad
It's early

Je marche

I want your body
I don't want your body...
...I'm eating your mind..."
etc
