Not sure the exact dates but I am meeting up with a friend from Sydney in Melbourne.
Neither of us care about tourist traps.
We like out of the way beaches and cafes and fun.
We both ride motorcycles and love adventuring, hiking, outdoors stuff. I don't know about her but I have my scuba cert and love snorkeling.
We know some of the spinny/fire peeps there, but all they've given us are meets and we want...more.
So, would you mind making some suggestions for a couple of fun loving freaks? ;-)
Thanks!

Re: Melbourne Oct 08
Fri, May 30, 2008 - 6:48 PMCoast road from Melbourne to the west as far as Seven Sisters...don't know much of what is beyond that...although I did manage to reach Timboon...good cheese at the cheese factory there:
www.cheese.com/Description.asp
I thought it was quite good! In the Easterly direction is Wilson's Prom, a national park that one can hike around. There is also wineries...also good for toodling about on a cycle would be my guess.
See also www.visitvictoria.com/display...3FC5DF6/
I know that some of that seems touristy in the extreme...but, really, the Great Ocean Road looked like a cyclers' paradise when I drove through there a decade ago. -

Sat, May 31, 2008 - 5:02 PMhave a look at my tribe too...
tribes.tribe.net/melbourne...nderground
there is lots going on.
I think TMIbo's suggestions are great! There is so much stuff to do those ways.. Wilson's Prom is so gorgeous... great beaches etc
and The Great Ocean Road is amazin...its the 12 Apostles (the Sisters are in the Blue Mountains near Sydney)
There is also the Mornington Peninsula
But if you are interested in less coastal stuff... you could go to Gippsland www.visitvictoria.com/display...37823E2/
part of which you can see on the way to Wilson's Prom
these are some results I did on VisitVictoria.com.au on Wilson's Prom

and Daylesford..... www.visitdaylesford.com.au/Form....aspx (less active, more relaxing... stay at Continental House.. its cheap and great www.continentalhouse.com.au/)

Re: Melbourne Oct 08
Tue, June 10, 2008 - 8:59 AMObviously do some of the great ocean road twelve apostles and various campsites where rivers meet the ocean...you can also do the tree top walk in the otway rainforest..
or alternatively head sth east of Melbourne down to wilson's promentry.. The most southerly point of mainland Australia.... It's a national park with great wildlife scenery & hiking / camping trails.
If you're lucky you might see dolphins or whales - just watch out for snakes in hot weather -
